Travel to Menorca by Car
Hiring a car is a great way to explore Menorca, especially since some of the most picturesque locations are off the beaten path and nearly impossible to reach by public transit.
The road system is small and consists of a few major roads, the longest of which is the ME-1, which connects the east and west coasts of the island.
Travel to Menorca by Air
The island of Menorca is the northern-most of the Balearic Islands, which lie just off of the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. There are many regular flights from most European destinations, especially in the summer months. Although direct flights may not always be possible in the off-season, Menorca is still reachable with a stopover, likely in mainland Spain.
Menorca Airport is located 4.5 kilometres away from the island’s capital of Mahon. Due to its small size, nearly all Menorca resorts can be reached in an hour or less.
Travel to Menorca by Bus
There are two main bus stations on Menorca: one in Mahon and one in Ciutadella, both of which offer many routes to the surrounding towns and villages.
Before hitting the road, consult the bus schedules as some only run on certain days.
There are four bus companies that operate on the island, all of which are very comfortable and have air conditioning.
From the airport, bus number 10 provides a direct link from the airport to the main bus station in Mahon, and from here connecting buses are available to other destinations. The airport bus runs every 30 minutes in the summer months, and every hour in the winter months.
Travel to Menorca by Taxi
Taxis on the island are known for being reliable and regulated, and the fare is decided depending on the distance that you wish to travel. Because Menorca is divided into different operating areas, there is a chance that you will be charged a little extra if your journey crosses one of these boundaries.
At the airport, the taxi rank is located in front of the arrivals hall in the main terminal building. Getting to Mahon will cost approximately 10 euros, and it is possible to call in advance to inquire about the prices for getting to other towns on the island.
Travel to Menorca by Water Taxi
There is a very affordable and comfortable water taxi that runs between the harbours of Es Castell and Mahon, both day and night.
The price is about 10 euros, but not only will you be able to travel between the two towns, you will also get a mini boat tour
Travel to Menorca by Private Transfer
If you want an easy way to get from A to B, then it may be worth arranging a private transfer for your transportation around Menorca. Although this may seem like a pricy option, when travelling with a group it is likely to be less expensive than other forms of transport.
